The Ishbal Massacre (Japanese: 「イシュヴァール虐殺」 - Ishubaaru Gyakusatsu) is episode 15 of the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series originally aired 2004-01-17.
Why is Scar killing State Alchemists? Dr. Marcoh explains to Ed and Al the circumstances surrounding the Ishbal War: the atrocities he participated in - however unwillingly - and how the products of his research into the Philosopher’s Stone were used by State Alchemists to perform a near-total genocide of the Ishbalans. Scar finds them once more and he damages Al’s armor and destroys Ed’s automail arm. Lacking an arm with which to form a transmutation circle and fight Scar alchemically, Ed is at Scar’s mercy.
