The Insider (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Insider, an entertainment television news program covering events and celebrities, debuted September 13, 2004. The Insider is a spinoff of Entertainment Tonight, and started as a popular segment that took viewers "behind closed doors" and gave them "inside" information; however, since becoming a separate program, the show has taken more of a tabloid-gossip direction. The original theme song (which was changed after the first new season) was performed by Richie Sambora.
The host of the series is Pat O'Brien. When O'Brien entered rehab for alcoholism (and presumably, to lay low from an impending voice mail/sex scandal), in March 2005, New York host Lara Spencer took over as the primary host.
It is syndicated by CBS Paramount Domestic Television, often as half of a one-hour news block that includes the show from which it was spun off, Entertainment Tonight. There are in fact three different feeds of the show - ET followed by The Insider, The Insider followed by ET, and (for markets where the two shows air on different stations) a self-contained edition of The Insider.
Correspondents (past and present) for The Insider include:
- Clay Aiken
- Steven Cojocaru
- Paula Froelich
- Kathie Lee Gifford
- Ananda Lewis
- Marc Malkin
- Eric Stromer
- Victoria Recaño
- Cheryl Woodcock
The Insider has been renewed through the 2009-2010 season.
