The Id is a Macy Gray album released in 2001. Although a number 1 album in the UK, The Id (frequently mistyped as The ID) failed to attract good reviews and was later on considered a failure. Due to the mega success of Gray's debut LP On How Life Is, The Id was often dismissed due to commercial and critical praise of the debut. Nevertheless, The Id managed to produce the critically acclaimed single 'Sweet Baby'. The LP was released just after 9/11 so that may have been the main reason why it flopped
