The House of Discontent is a horror-themed Courage the Cowardly Dog episode, said by some to be the creepiest of the lot due to its claustrophobic feel and the sinister look of the Spirit of the Harvest Moon.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Eustace can't grow anything and suddenly a creepy voice starts telling them to leave. The house appliances go crazy, and the Bagges end up in the basement, where a sinister head appears floating in the sky, telling them to leave since they have dishonoured the Harvest Moon. The head introduces itself as the Spirit of the Harvest Moon and says that unless they can grow anything by midnight they must leave or suffer the consequences. Courage desperately tries to bring a flower back to life but does not succeed. Midnight comes and the Spirit fades away, telling Eustace and Muriel that they will suffer the consequences. The heat goes up and Courage uses Eustace's sweat to bring the flower back. The Spirit allows them to stay since Eustace is at last a genuine farmer.
