The Henry Cort Community College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Henry Cort Community College , formerly Fareham Park Senior School, is a mixed sex comprehensive school in Fareham, Hampshire.
It is one of three comprehensive schools in Fareham, and has around 1000 pupils at the latest count, around 200 per year.
It has a rich sporting tradition, especially in field hockey, and has enviable sports facilities. This in turn has lead to well above average participation in sporting activities in the school, with a large proportion of pupils going on to take GCSE level Physical Education. This is not by will, for many pupils, as they are forced into it without a choice.
The school also benefits from excellent facilities across the curriculum, yet despite this achieves only slightly above national average GCSE grades. This can partly be attributed to being situated in one of the least affluent areas of Fareham, and of course these results do not reflect the excellent overall education the school provides.
Many of the students go on to further education, such as colleges in the area. The favourite colleges of the Henry Cort students are; Barton Peveril College
The school is named after Iron pioneer, Henry Cort
