The Heat Is On is a landmark 1975 album released by The Isley Brothers on their T-Neck imprint. One of their most successful recordings, it also became the first Isley Brothers album to hit #1 on the Billboard pop albums chart, still considered a rare feat for a black band of the time (the only other black band who scored a number-one album on the pop charts was their funk contemporary, Earth, Wind & Fire). The album is most notable for the political "Fight the Power, Pt. 1 & 2" and the melodic soul ballad, "For the Love of You, Pt. 1 & 2" and beloved album tracks, "Sensuality, Pt. 1 & 2" and "Make Me Say It Again, Girl, Pt. 1 & 2". Particularly all the songs on this album were two-parters, making it a trademark in the Isleys' legendary catalog. The album went platinum within weeks of its release and broadened their popularity with black and white fans alike.
