'The Heat Is On' was originally a single by Noosha Fox in 1979 and rerecorded by Agnetha Fältskog in 1983 as part of her first English solo-album (which was her seventh solo-album when also counting her swedish recordings).
The single was quite successful in Europe even if it could neither reach the position of ABBA-singles nor the one of Frida's I Know There's Something Going On which was a hit worldwide.
The Heat Is On reached No. 1 in Sweden, No. 2 in the Netherlands and Belgium No. 20 in Germany and No. 35 in the UK.
The single's B-side was the song "Man", written by Agnetha herself. Compared to her pre-ABBA-albums where most of the songs featured at least her writing the music this was the only song she wrote herself this time.
In some countries the record companies also released a 12"-single featuring an extended version of "The Heat Is On" instead of the album-version.
