"The Happy Organ" is the name of an instrumental composition made famous by Dave "Baby" Cortez. Cortez co-composed it with Kurt Wood. "The Happy Organ" was Cortez's breakthrough single. Although he had been recording for several years prior to releasing this single, he had met with very limited success. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959, making it the first instrumental to rise to the summit of the chart, although others had topped Billboard's earlier charts.
