[edit] History

The Haisho was created by its current owner and administrator, username DFarthing. It was originally one of the "exodus" boards for the members of the Tech TV message boards when the merger of Tech TV with G4 was announced. Most members stayed at the G4 Anime Unleashed message boards while using the chosen "exodus" board, Forever Anime, only for its chat client. Later on, members from Forever Anime and G4's Anime Unleashed boards started using The Haisho, which at this point was still just a message board. Eventually, The Haisho got its own IRC room and grew in members and activity. Later on, even a photo gallery system similar to Photobucket was added. This allowed members to browse through and use public galleries that anyone could upload to and personal galleries that only the owner could upload to.

In its current state it has a little over 300 registered members, though only about 50-70 are active on the message boards. The IRC room is also very active, with anywhere between 10-15 people in it nightly. Currently, it is a small, close-knit community that grows in size at a slow, but steady basis.

As of Tuesday, December 5th, 2006 Static Illusions was merged into The Haisho, carrying over most board concepts and members.

The forum was generated using the free phpBB software.

[edit] The Fads

The Haisho is known for its fads, generally taking the form of a specific anime series that is popular among a large number of members. Since the largest denomination of members consists of men between fourteen and thirty, series that feature attractive women are the most common fads. Recent fads have included Fate/Stay Night, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and the most recent one, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. This trend normally leads to large amounts of images of that particular anime filling the image gallery and a slight obsession among a small number of members.

[edit] Art

The Original Art section of the message board holds various fan fiction, original stories, drawings, Anime Music Videos, and most commonly signatures. On the "sigmakers" thread, members can request a signature to be made and artists can show off signatures they have already made. Most of the signature makers use either Adobe Photoshop or the free program GIMP. The Haisho's signature making circle encompasses members of widely differing tastes and talents, most of whom are willing to help signature artists who are just starting out.

This section was expanded on by quite a bit during the merger with Static Illusions, seperating the "Original Art" board into four sperate boards. "Art Showcase" to show off fan art, original art, and digital art. "Writings Showcase" to show off fan fiction, poetry, and original writings. "Creative Concepts" which was designed for tutorials and informational aid in various art related topics. And "Art of War", this was directly carried over from Static Illusions, in which you can have a "battle" of sorts comparing one's art to another's and having a poll to vote whose is best.

Most Anime Music Videos made by The Haisho members are up for download in the download section of the website. Almost, if not all, of the videos are marked as done by "PPPS Productions". This is a running joke among a small number of members that claim Pen Pen, a "hot spring penguin" from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, is a god, and formed the "PPPS"(Pen Pen Protection/Police Squad).
