The Great Debaters (2008) is an upcoming film directed by Denzel Washington and with a screenplay by Suzan-Lori Parks and Robert Eisele. It is being produced by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions.

It is based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, who, while at Wiley College formed a debate team which beat Harvard in 1935 during the national championships.
