[edit] Episode recap
Heylia is pissed to learn that Conrad and his friends bashed Cash the security guard. She tells him that they look after their own, not Nancy. She forbids him to speak to Nancy ever again. Vaneeta goes into labor.
Nancy and Shane prepare for his karate tournament. Nancy is primping herself to see Peter again, but Shane thinks the man is creepy. At the tournament, Nancy flirts with him. Shane doesn't even have to fight: his reputation as a biter precedes him and terrifies his opponent.
Silas is brought home by the cops one night, having taken ecstasy with Megan.
Isabelle has a friend, Peggy, over. The two are playing celebrity, which largely involves Peggy calling Isabelle "hot", so Isabelle wants her to stay over. Later, Celia sees the two girls kissing.
Andy gets a letter from the U.S. military. He is being sent to Iraq as part of the war. He drunkenly signed up a few years earlier in Colorado to impress a woman, and now he's been hiding out. Doug informs him that - since he was arrested for possession - he's in the system, and they found him again. Andy begs Doug to help, but Doug can't do anything. He does comment that the war is justifiable, which Andy confronts him about. Doug says he's "blindly pro-Bush" because he used to buy weed from Laura Bush at SMU.
Nancy goes over to Heylia's, where she finds that Vaneeta has been sent home, her labor was false. Conrad has been attempting to expand the business and start growing his own plants but Heylia turns him down. Nancy is confused when Conrad ignores her and then walks out. Heylia explains that they aren't allowed to talk anymore. Nancy is outraged that Heylia can choose her friends, and Heylia tells her to choose between the weed and Conrad. Nancy walks out.
At the bakery, Peter is waiting for Nancy. Sanjay, who clearly loves Nancy, is attempting to ascertain what he wants with Nancy. When she arrives, she tells Peter that she has to go, as she has a few problems with her kids. He wonders if she is turning him down, and Nancy tells him she just wishes they had met when her life was less complicated.
Celia confronts Isabelle and Peggy. She says that Isabelle can't just become a lesbian because overweight women like Rosie O'Donnell find love. She sends Peggy home. Isabelle confronts her, saying that Celia was much nicer when she thought she was going to die.
Nancy confronts Silas over the ecstasy and he informs her that he knows she's a drug dealer. They have an argument over how much freedom he should be allowed. He doesn't blame her for what she does, but he wants her to let him do as he pleases. Nancy threatens to kick him out of home, but Silas doubts she'll want to explain that to Shane. He storms past her to go to stay at Megan's.
Depressed, Nancy goes to Andy who tells her to be honest with her family, since Shane won't handle it well if he finds out without her telling him.
Conrad comes to the bakery to see Nancy. He has a plan for the two of them to start up their own business. Conrad will set up a grow house with his plant, and in 3 months they can have a business. Until then, he suggests, they patch things up with Heylia and pretend things aren't going on as they are.
Out riding her bike, Isabelle is crushed to see Peggy kissing a boy.
Vaneeta gives birth, and Heylia is annoyed when Conrad doesn't show up.
Andy signs up for Rabbinical school to get out of going to war.
That night, Nancy and Conrad set up a party for their new cartel. Doug is the finance; Dean is the legal; Sanjay is the sales department; and Alejandro is the distribution. Andy, whom Nancy has let sit in is, Nancy jokes, the "yentl". Inside, Shane wonders what is going on and Nancy promises him that everything will be okay. Shane watches, perplexed, as Lupita closes the door on him.
Later, Nancy arrives at Peter's house. Her life is, at last, less complicated. They go inside, and sleep together.
Nancy wakes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and grabs the nearest jacket she can find. Inside the bathroom, as she turns on the light, Nancy is stunned to see that Peter's jacket has three letters on the back: DEA...
[edit] Title reference
- The title is a play on the classic mob film The Godfather.
[edit] Trivia
- The scene where Shane watches Nancy's cartel is directly taken from the last scene of The Godfather, where Kay Corleone (Diane Keaton) watches as she is shut out of Michael (Al Pacino)'s business.
