Will Hay again stars as an ineffectual science teacher (William Lamb). Lamb is hired by a school in remote Dunbain Castle on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The sound of bagpipes signals the death of another member of staff. Three die and Lamb must solve the mystery. Of course, being a war-time film, a Nazi spy ring is present. One of the most memorable scenes is when Lamb is trapped inside a secret room with the ceiling slowly descending upon him.

Filmed in black and white, the movie is very atmospheric.
