The Foreman Trophy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Foreman Trophy is the biggest match in the five-a-side calendar. Played on the Monday night closest to the end of the UK tax year, the trophy is named after the former director of Crest Pay Limited, Martin John Foreman. The teams for the match are drawn at random. Captains are also drawn randomly and the victorious captain has the honour of keeping the trophy for a year. The inaugural match was played on the 3rd April 2006 in the Arthur Ketland Hall at the Deeside Leisure Centre in Queensferry, North Wales. The result was an 11-3 victory for the blues. The teams and goalscorers are listed below:

Blues: Anthony Manning-Stanley (capt) - 2 goals, David Downham - 1 goal, Andrew Jones - 4 goals, John Marshall - 1 goal, Guy Turton - 3 goals.

Whites (better than score suggests): Neil Turton (capt) - 0 goals, Simon Buckland - 0 goals, Russell Carr - 0 goals, Joe Catling - 1 goal, David Wilde - 1 goal.

NB. Whites' total includes an own goal.

Please note that the Foreman Trophy is not currently recognised by FIFA or UEFA, subsequently no European Cup competition places are attached to the winning of the trophy.
