The Florida Frontier is a monthly student newspaper at the University of Florida. In 2006, The Florida Frontier was founded by a small group of students who felt that intellectual diversity among the existing campus newspapers was almost non-existent. After several months of preparations, the newspaper was published on October 24, 2006. Between October 24 and October 27, 10,000 copies were distributed by hand on campus. Due to budget and staff constraints, The Florida Frontier is currently a monthly newspaper, with plans to eventually expand to bi-weekly and, perhaps, weekly publication. The newspaper strives to have more in-depth and investigative stories, which would prohibit the possibility of becoming a daily newspaper.
The Florida Frontier is distributed for free, by hand, on the University of Florida campus and at several spots around the city of Gainesville, Florida.

[edit] Mission Statement
The mission statement is printed on the inside cover of each edition.
The Florida Frontier was founded on August 27, 2006, by a group of University of Florida students who aim to represent the ideals and beliefs of American conservatism both to the student body of UF and residents of the Gainesville area.
We exist to provide the student body with a just representation of issues and ideas that are indispensable to a robust higher education. We strive to promote the true principles of American conservatism, which emphasize individual liberty and personal responsibility. These principles motivate and compel us to educate and affect change in the student body. In order to achieve these goals we shall:
1) Educate and Motivate: We will offer fair and honest reporting in every story that we print. We will present stories that are topical and important for our readers from both the campus and community.
2) Express and Promote: We will provide an avenue for greater diversity of expression on campus. The Florida Frontier will offer a new avenue to address major problems and issues on campus that have not received proper attention from other publications.
3) Commit to Excellence: We will work at the highest standards of journalistic accuracy and integrity. We will maintain a constant state of intellectual honesty that will be evident in each edition that we print. The same principles of truth and justice that guided our forefathers through the American frontier shall steer us as we venture to uphold the standards of conservatism throughout our campus and community.
