[edit] Background of Druss the Legend

A long time ago there was an invading army coming to take over Drenai. In the night, a small heroic party went into the kings tent, killed him, put his head on a pike and one man took that kings axe.

Later, that man, Bardan, instead of a hero became a butcher, killing men, women and children.

He eventually died when he was alone and attacked by too many soldiers. His son waited high above in a tree, and at night went to the body of his father and took the axe with him. Over the years, he was forced to move from one place to the next, always being recognized as the son of Bardan. He married, and a child was born. His name was Druss. One day, riders recognizing him charged their horses at him, killing his wife. In his rage he killed all three of them.

Beside his wife, the baby lay crying, and he took his son and moved to a new area.

In a mountain village, away from civilization he thought he had finally found a peaceful place to live.....

Druss was still young, before he took up Bardan's Axe, Snaga the Sender, and he had met Rowena. Rowena was a mystic, she could sense some things, and she and Druss were married.

He was cutting down a tree in the forest when raiders came to their village. He killed the raiders that were in the forest, but the raiders were already gone from the village.

Around his father were many dead raiders, as his dead wife Patricia, and with his last words, " Druss, behind the cupboard there is a box, in it is an Axe, it has a terrible history, but you will need it.

He found the axe, put on the armour within, and with that took the first step to becoming Druss the Legend.

Into the village rode Shadak, and he had been hunting this raiding party. He thought this was a raider in front of him, and when looking into the young man's eyes he felt for the first time in a long time fear.

He quickly discovered that this was not a raider, but a son from this village.

And so began Druss's hunt across the world for his wife.
