The Elms (Old Rexdale)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Elms and Old Rexdale is that area south of Thistletown and north of Highway 401 (Ontario). It is bordered mainly by the Humber River to the east and Islington Avenue to the west.

Two golf courses were present on the east side of Islington Ave. and the west side of Albion Rd. up until 1960, when construction began on the subdivisions. Latterly, in the later 1960s, the Braeburn Woods housing development, constructed by the Ontario Housing Corporation, began the long but steady decline of the neighbourhood to today's slum status.
