The Drying Pole
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monohoshi Zao, literal meaning Clothes-Drying Pole. Often translated into English as The Drying Pole. The Drying Pole was an extremely long, straight-bladed Japanese sword used by the samurai Sasaki Kojiro. Properly known as a nodachi, the Drying Pole was a deadly weapon in the hands of Kojiro despite its size and weight. With this sword, he was allegedly able to cut in twain a sparrow in mid-flight in the air. Yet, despite his skill with it, the sword was unable to beat renowned samurai Miyamoto Musashi.
