[edit] Plot synopsis
The episode starts with Master Monk Guan meditating in the main training area of the temple, Dojo lying around his neck, asleep. The six dots on his head glow, and Master Monk Guan stands up, sensing evil. He has Dojo awaken the others and start searching the temple. Nothing is found other than a splotch of ketchup from Clay's sandwich (searching for evil makes him hungry), resulting in a sleepy Raimundo to start complaining. He curls up and goes to sleep in the training area, the others going to bed after Guan dismisses them. Meanwhile, a wasp heads down into the Shen Gong Wu vault, morphs into Hannibal Roy Bean, opening the vault and removing two specific Shen Gong Wu.
The next evening, Master Monk Guan is sleeping in the compound of the island temple. A blue, jellyfish-like creature appears in the compound and attacks Master Monk Guan. Kimiko, Clay, and Omi woke up and tried to attack the creature, but the jellyfish monster was seemingly unstoppable, breathing bluish flames at them and defeating them easily, easily swatting Master Monk Guan aside. The jellyfish monster was about to eat Clay, Omi, and Kimiko when it vanished. A moment later, a fully awake Raimundo, clutching his teddy bear and brandishing the Blade of The Nebula, appears, ready to help, but the creature was long gone by then. There is some confusion at first, the others trying to figure out what was going on. Kimiko teases Raimundo about his teddy bear, but he protests, saying that it's just a good luck charm. They put forth the suggestion that Jack Spicer is responsible. They go to investigate, but find that the Jellyfish monster attacked him. After retrieving Jack from where he was hiding, they find a relatively undamaged recorder bot that recorded the incident. They see that several of Jack's robots had turned into blue statues, and realize what is responsible. They go back to the temple, finding that the Sapphire Dragon is indeed missing, along with the Shadow of Fear. They also learn that Master Monk Guan has figured it out. Raimundo is responsible for the jellyfish, but not to blame. Hannibal Roy Bean used the Shadow of Fear in conjunction with the Sapphire Dragon and the Moby Morpher to manifest Raimundo's worst fear and use it against the monks. Whenever Raimundo sleeps, the jellyfish will appear. Hannibal, inside Rai's head, compliments the monks for figuring it out. He taunts a shadowed, spectral being inside Raimundo's head and gets ready for the next phase of his plan.
It is eventually decided that they must keep Raimundo awake for as long as possible until they can figure out what to do. Each of the monks has a different method of going about it: Omi tries splashing buckets of ice cold water across Raimundo's face repeatedly, but after the first splash, Dojo kicks the bucket away. Dojo thinks the problem is psychological, and tries various annoying, nosy, faux-psychiatrist ways of getting Raimundo to talk to him, only to be throttled each time. He does not realize that this annoys Raimundo. Kimiko thinks an endless session of Dance Armageddon is in order, but Raimundo decides to go freestyle, lying down sleepily on the dance pad and pressing buttons. Clay's idea is square dancing, something that has Raimundo in fearful tears just from the mere idea of it. Clay flings Raimundo around for a bit, accidentally launching him off the dance floor. Dojo tries his psychologist bit again, but is struck by his mystical senses picking up a new Shen Gong Wu. Clay volunteers to stay behind to help Raimundo stay awake while Kimiko and Omi go retrieve the Wu. A few moments after Dojo leaves, however, Kimiko comes up to Clay with the Longi Kite. She says that plans have changed, and that the Wu is an Earth-elemental artifact. Clay, pleased with this, accepts the Kite and flies off to join Omi and Dojo. Raimundo questions what Kimiko's new plan is to keep him awake, but Kimiko, her face changing slightly and gaining a demonic grin, just watches as the extremely tired Raimundo falls asleep. 'Kimiko' laughs wickedly, using the Moby Morpher to drop the disguise and become Hannibal Bean again. He uses the Shadow of Fear and heads into Raimundo's head.
Meanwhile, Omi and Kimiko are on their way to the new Wu. It is the Shadow Slicer, which can create a hologram to trick opponents. Omi comments that it would be nice to have a hologram of himself to admire, causing Kimiko to roll her eyes. They head into a zoo, where the Shadow Slicer is, and begin looking for it, Kimiko praying that it is not in monkey cage. They confront the monkeys surrounding the Shadow Slicer, who start throwing 'stuff' at them, disgusting the two monks greatly. Jack Spicer comes along and rallies the monkeys after using the Monkey Staff, throwing even more stuff at the monks, Jack claiming the Shadow Slicer. However, as he does, Clay flies in with the Longi Kite and snatches the Shadow Slicer out of his hands, landing near the others. They question why he is there, and Clay realizes that he has been tricked. A monkey snatches the Shadow Slicer away from Clay and starts to celebrate, but he is engulfed by a blast of blue flames and turned into a statue. Everyone turns, and spots the jellyfish monster looming over them.
Meanwhile, inside his head, Raimundo comes to. He begins exploring his mind, curious, and walks into a massive room filled with everything from his fantasies, including a throne, a cool car, dozens of arcade games of all sorts, and Kimiko in a beautiful geisha robe. He heads towards his throne, admiring the room, Kimiko shifting into Wuya as Hannibal Roy Bean speaks up, taunting Raimundo. Raimundo dismisses him at first, admiring is heavily idealized, tall and muscular reflection in a mirror. It shifts to Hannibal Bean, who shows Raimundo the manifestation of his fears in a young boy carrying a teddy bear. Things go psychedelic for a few moments, Hannibal moving Raimundo through his mind at a fast rate. They reappear on a beach, where Tubbimura is sunbathing (on top of an irate Jack Spicer), and his friends are all making a sand castle. Raimundo, trying to ignore Hannibal taunting him about his inadequacies and fears, tries to join his friends, but they just keep moving farther and farther away. Hannibal moves them again, this time into a movie theater where some of Raimundo's memories are playing. Hannibal Bean then shows Raimundo what his fear is doing to his friends.
The fight with the jellyfish monster is going badly. The Shadow Slicer is being tossed around, several monkeys already having fallen victim to the jellyfish's flame. Eventually, the jellyfish goes for the Shadow Slicer, and Omi gets there at the same time. He challenges the jellyfish, which morphs into its real form as the Sapphire Dragon, to a Xiaolin Showdown. The others comment that the Dragon does not have any Wu to wager, but Omi counters by saying that the Dragon itself IS Shen Gong Wu. He wagers his Orb of Tornami in exchange for the Dragon himself. The Dragon animates a sapphire monkey and turns a rhino into a sapphire statue/slave, making the Showdown a Cosmic Clash. The challenge accepted, the area morphs into a challenge zone and the fight begins.
Raimundo is horrified. His inner self tries to comfort him, and the two eventually decide to confront their fears. Hannibal morphs into a massive, demonic creature and begins fighting Raimundo, taunting him viciously. After an intense battle on both fronts, the Sapphire Dragon seems to claim victory, changing all the monks into statues. However, by this point, Raimundo has defeated Hannibal Bean, successfully conquering his fears and winning the Showdown for his friends. The challenge zone reverts to normal, as do the monks, who are more than a little confused as to how they won. They look up to see an image of Raimundo the sky, who congratulates them and introduces them to his inner self. He then falls asleep.
The monks head back, looking half-dead from fatigue. Staying up for so long has had an effect on them as well. They return the Sapphire Dragon to its proper place, and are about to head to bed, when a perky and well-rested Raimundo comes down to greet him. He offers to go do intense training, and the episode ends with the tired monks giving Raimundo thoroughly annoyed looks.
