The Devil Wears Prada is a proposed American situation comedy series that is expected to debut in 2007 as a possible candidate for the 2007-2008 fall television season. The series will be produced by Fox Television Studios and, if green-lighted, will air on FOX.

[edit] Proposed details

Although the series will be based on the best-selling book and the summer 2006 box-office hit movie of the same name and will use the same story set-up that was featured in both, the premise will be different. According to Fox TV president Angela Shapiro-Mathes, the sitcom will have its own identity: "That becomes a mistake," she told Variety. "The TV series will not be exactly like the movie or the book. The reason you loved the book and the reason you loved the movie was these were characters you really cared about in a world you wanted to learn more about. You can't read that book and not feel that the two characters are ones that you want to keep following. It's something you can get really passionate about."

Ironically, the announcement of the planned series comes on the heels of the success of another series with a similar setting, ABC's Ugly Betty. There is already an argument over whether Prada copied Betty and vice versa (even though the latter was based on the 1999 Colombian telenovela Yo Soy Betty La Fea).
