The Deathray Davies are an indie rock band from Dallas, TX.

[edit] Biography

The band formed as a solo side-project for Dallas musician John Dufilho, who sent in a demo tape to the 1999 SXSW performance; he recruited friends from other local Dallas bands in order to perform. Originally from San Antonio, John Dufilho and Jason Garner were in Thirteen with Chris Smart and togther as a 3 piece fuzz pop outfit called Bedwetter with Collin from Big Drag. Dufilho and Garner are also perform acoustically as I Love Math.

The band has put out five albums, the latest being 2005's The Kick and the Snare (see 2005 in music), which was the first album recorded by the entire band (instead of by Trufilho and bassist John Garner alone). In 2004, following the release of Midnight at the Black Nail Polish Factory, they were profiled in both Esquire and People magazines. [1] They have toured with the likes of The Breeders, The Old 97's. Pete Yorn, and Superchunk, and continue to record music.

John Dufilho's 2005 self titled solo album is currently up for a Grammy. As if that's not keeping him busy enough, he's also the current drummer for The Apples In Stereo.
