The Dead School

The Dead School (1995) is a novel by Irish writer Patrick McCabe.
Set in small-town Ireland, it tells the intriguing story about two interacting characters: Raphael Bell, an old schoolmaster, and Malachy Dudgeon, a young teacher.
Like other novels by Patrick McCabe, both of the two main characters had troubling childhood. The intertwining of the two results in the destruction of Raphael and the dramatic change of Malachy.
