"The Day I Tried to Live" is a single from the music group Soundgarden, off the album Superunknown with music and lyrics written by Chris Cornell.
"The Day I Tried To Live" was rather underpromoted when compared to "Black Hole Sun" or "Spoonman." There is esssentially only one version of the single, available on CD, cassette, 12" and 7". The 12" is one-sided, etched and comes with a stencil, making it a rather nice collector's item. The video for "The Day I Tried To Live," which can be found on the Alive In The Superunknown CD+, was directed by Matt Mahurin.
It was covered by Between the Buried and Me on their album The Anatomy Of.
It is another example of a Soundgarden song which uses an unorthodox time signature.
