The Chartered Institute of Taxation is the leading body for tax professionals in the United Kingdom.
Membership is awarded on passing the Institute's examination and completing 3 years' practical UK taxation experience. Members may use the letters CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser), formerly ATII (Associate of the Taxation Institute Incorporated).
Fellowship is available following the submission of a thesis or a body of work. Fellow members may use the letters CTA(Fellow), formerly FTII, after their name to indicate fellowship.

- the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have signed a global partnership agreement to enable ACCA’s members worldwide to take the CIOT’s Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT).
- CIOT members may obtain an accelerated route to membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Details
