The Cats
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cats was a rock band from Volendam, The Netherlands, together with BZN notable for the so-called Palingsound. The band consisted of singer-guitar players Cees Veerman (born 6-10-1943) and Piet Veerman (born 1-3-1943), Jaap Schilder on guitar and piano (born 9-1-1943), bassplayer Arnold Muhren (born 28-1-1944) and drummer Theo Klouwer (born 30-6-1947, died 8-2-2001).
At first The Cats were called The Blue Cats. Due to a loan by Jan Buys they could get started. The band had their greatest success between 1968 - 1972. They were popular in The Netherlands and in Germany.
In the 80's Piet Veerman left the group. He had a solo-hit with the song Sailing Home.
On March 23, 2006 The Cats were made part of the Order of Orange-Nassau. The same year the group made a final reunion to record a single.
