The Breezeblock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Breezeblock was a weekly electronic radio program on BBC Radio 1. It mainly featured experimental / electronic music. But it also contained; Alt-country, hip hop, techno, breakbeats, noise, grime, dubstep and reggae.

Mary Anne Hobbs remained the host of the show throughout its ten year history. Highlights of the show included sets by Jason Pierce, DJ Shadow and The Bug and special programmes which investigated old school jungle, dubstep, grime and Berlin. The Aphex Twin special was also well received despite the non appearance of Richard D James. The Breezeblock is archived at some websites on a weekly basis.

In September 2006, The Breezeblock moniker was deleted and the show is now entitled "Mary Anne Hobbs".
