The Breakout is an episode of The Batman. It was aired on November 11, 2006.

After the capture of Black Mask, Batman has to find where the bomb that Black Mask had planted. However, he was then captured. Batgirl and Robin must learn how to work together when his vast organizattion, lead by Number One, tries to break him out of jail..
After Blask Mask's escape, Batgirl and Robin defeat him in combat and puts him back to his cell.

- Blask Mask's mask cannot be removed, or cannot be IDed.
- This is the first time Black Mask was featured outside the comics, and into other media.
- Black Mask's demoting of Number One, and the way he escaped in a helicopter almost at the end of the episode is similar to The Joker in the Tim Burton 1989 film Batman.

Black Mask: Time is not something you have anymore. Good night, Gordon and good-bye. - Black Mask: I'm not one of those Arkham loners you're used to, Batman. I have a vast organization to deal with you.
Batgirl: Memo to Black Mask:
Robin: You're not the only one with an organization. - Black Mask: We can make this hard or easy but I am walking out that door.
Batgirl and Robin: Hard! - Robin: Wonder what Batman will have us do next? I have an important mission for you two: The Batmobile must be washed, two coats of wax this time.
Batgirl: And don't forget to hang one of those tree shaped air fresheners. The fate of Gotham depends on it. - Robin: East side is all clear.
Batgirl: West side is clear and very, very, very bored. Suggest to 2102, the carrying of snacks from police lobby.
Robin: Roger that.
