[edit] Differences between movie and book
- Rhyme's aide is female named Thelma in the film, but is a male in the book by the name of Thom. (Which is his last name. Rhyme never calls him by his first name and he also does not die).
- Amelia's surname is Sachs in the book, but is Donaghy in the film.
- Detective Selitto's first name in the book is Lon, in the movie its Pauly.
- The motivation of the Bone Collector is different between the book and film.
- In the Book about the perp on the headboard.
- In the movie Rhyme is still on theoretically active duty and cops are helping him out. In the Book they reached a settlement for $3 Million and he is retired. He usually doesn't see anyone except for his aide and his doctors.
- The victim he cut to attract rats was female in the book.
- Some crime scenes are mixed up.
