[edit] Plot summary
The episode begins with a scene set immediately after the Izumo and Gekko flee the South Aires airspace. Dominic commandeers an Izumo shuttle to deliver medicine to Anemone.
After a few moments of making sure he's still sane, Renton turns his attention to Eureka, who is unconscious, though in discomfort. He then storms up to the typeTheEND to see who put her through this trial, and the cockpit opens to reveal Anemone. Before he can take a closer look, however, Dominic points a gun to his head. Suddenly both girls cry out in pain, and Renton and Dominic run to their respective girl's side. Dominic tries to administer the medicine, but Anemone bites his hand, causing him to drop it.
Renton overhears Dominic tell Anemone that he'll head for the hospital in Salisaorne to find more medicine. Renton convinces Dominic into letting him come along, by uninstalling the compac drive and muffler from his motorcycle.
Holland readies the Gekkostate LFOs in order to recover the Nirvash and its pilots before the military does, over Talho's protests concerning safety due to the low amounts of trapar.
Renton and Dominic, despite a few delays, manage to find their way into Salisaorne, where they find that the populace isn't very friendly to military types, especially because of the damage done to the city during the Coralian incident. They somehow make their way to the hospital, despite Dominic's poor sense of direction.
They get their medicine (and some treatment for some wounds from an earlier brawl), but Dominic's motorcycle is stolen. Renton fixes a nearby ambulance, which they use to drive back. During the ride, Dominic explains what little he knows of the patients suffering from the "Despair Syndrome".
They administer the medicine to the girls, but the area bursts into battle as military KLFs and Gekkostate LFOs clash over the two Nirvash units. Caught in the crossfire, Renton promises again to protect Eureka, and the Nirvash typeZERO comes to life again, flooding the region in light and trapar. The Nirvash opens its pilot cockpit, and extends its hand to Renton, seemingly offering the seat to him. He lifts the Nirvash back to the Gekko.
When Renton mentions that he dreamed inside the Zone, Holland desperately asks him what he saw. Renton answers that he thought he saw his sister.
[edit] Significance
Dominic comments that the Nirvash accepted someone other than Eureka, namely Renton, into the pilot's seat. Although it is only the second time Renton pilots the Nirvash, from this point onward Eureka is unable to perform at her former capacity in the pilot's seat, leading to one of the central conflicts of the early half of the series.
