The Barefoot Doctor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Barefoot Doctor, whose civil name is Stephen Russell, is a British advocate of Taoism.

He has so far dedicated his life to translating and teaching the practice of ancient Chinese Taoism, its medicine, philosophical wisdom, meditation practices, martial arts and ‘magic’ system, or ‘wu wei’, the way of effortless manifesting, and making it relevant to busy people in a modern world who value developing a direct link to the spiritual without changing their lifestyle. He has studied under leading western practitioners such as R. D. Laing in addition to leading doctors of Chinese medicine.

He has authored ten best-selling books, wrote a weekly column in The Observer for five years, runs an online clinic, community and school and is currently doing a musical healing event called the Travelling Medicine Show. He is credited with helping millions get through personal crisis and change their lives for the better.
