The Artifact is a mysterious object on the TV series, Eureka. Little is known about the artifact, although it is believed to be terrestrial in origin. A brief encounter with the artifact caused Dr. Carl Carlson to evolve into a being with a healing factor and psychic abilities. So far, it has only been seen as a ball of swirling light. It currently resides in a secured vault in Section 5 at Global Dynamics. Locals, such as Nathan Stark and Beverly Barlowe are very interested in discovering the artifact's true nature.

In "Once in a Lifetime", it is revealed that the artifact is a device from the universe that preceeded the Big Bang, and it exists outside our time-space continuum.
