[edit] Biography

The band was originally formed in November 1997 by Jana Heller, Jayd McFerson, and Jon McFerson. Brother Jeffrey McFerson was asked to join the band in July 1998 after the first version of "Let You Down" was recorded. Jayd was originally the bass player and Jon was originally the drummer. Jayd switched to guitar after a line up change left the band without a guitar player. Jon played drums and bass (except for "lovesick") on the first release "Your Simple Beauty." The line up remained the same on the second release "Nobody's Cool" except for drums. Jon's friend Jose Sanchez was asked to play drums. Billy Pena was recruited to plays drums on the final release.

Some people call their music "dreampop". According to band member Jon the name of the band has its origins in professional wrestling. Wrestler Rick "The Model" Martel's gimmick was to spray "arrogance" on his audience with an old style insecticide can. The word "arrogance" was written on the side of the can. Jon changed the spelling to "arrogants" and the name "The Arrogants" was born.

Among other compilations, the band performed a cover of the song Rock of Ages for the 2004 film, The Home Teachers. They released their first full-length album You've Always Known When Best To Say Goodbye in 2005.
