[edit] Task Dossier
[edit] Pre-Task Corporate Restructuring
- For Season 3, the first "corporate restructuring" took effect, when Erin and Stephanie were moved to Net Worth, while Tana and Craig were moved to Magna.
[edit] Task Aims
- The aim of this episode's task is to run a charity auction where the bidders will get special attention/prizes from famous music stars
- Each team must visit the artists and negotiate with them what the prizes will be. Then the team has to produce and act in the video segment which is run on a TV network.
- The result for each team will be aired at FUSE TV Studios.
[edit] Task Outcome
- John, being a musician, feels he has some special power with them, but winds up acting condescending and silly. For example, he proposes that he can 'jam' with one of the bands, and asks the drummer if he can play the guy's drums. As most musicians know, one's instrument is a very private thing and it is an incredible faux pas for a complete stranger to ask if s/he can play another one's instrument. This idea was first pitched to members of New Found Glory, Barenaked Ladies and Simple Plan, all of whom felt the idea was nothing particularly interesting.
- When his team pitches their idea to KISS's Gene Simmons, John blathers on and on about how he's loved KISS since he was in grade school, leading an obviously annoyed Simmons to ask, "Why am I here?" John also is disrespectful of his female teammates, saying at one point that his strategy is to 'pimp' them to the musicians. He cuts them off in the meetings and will not shut up and let people talk.
- Magna has a lot more harmony on the team. Tana seems to take a special appreciation to the hip-hop artists and attempts to use ebonics in a goofy but endearing way. She and Craig convinced Lil Jon to let a winner be the holder of Jon's goblet for a day, and also appear in his next music video. Jon felt this was a bit much, but agreed to it nonetheless.
- In the end 'everyone wins' because they raise several ten-thousand dollars for the Pediatric AIDS foundation charity. However, Magna wins by several thousand dollars because the deals they negotiated with the artists are better. Chris is almost fired but stands up and says that the production of the show was a very important part of the task and he had to stay there and delegate the negotiation out to John.
- Boardroom: The Donald was upset about Chris's management style, but Trump was more upset about John's negotiation skills, and as Trump sought to fire John, he told John "You let me down."
- Fired: John, for terrible negotiation skills
