The Apprentice is an episode of The Batman. It was aired on February 11, 2006.

During Mayor Grange's cookoff, Joker and his henchmen leads an attack. He attempted to use his venom to Grange after the chilly he tasted is too hot. Just then, Batman and Batgirl intervines. Upon seeing them working together, Joker retreats from the park. In his hideout, he starts to look for a sidekick.

Meanwhile, in Barbara's school, Donnie makes a prank on Barbara that he had one week of detention. He then decided to go to a night club to make jokes. Joker then clapped to make him his sidekick. After detention, Donnie meets with the Joker, who pulls a prank by hanging the school teacher in the flag pole.

He then joins Joker and takes him to his factory. Donnie gets an idea of shooting the city with a giant gumball. Batman and Batgirl confronts Joker and his new sidekick, Prank. Batgirl confronts Prank and laughs, leading her to discover who he is. Prank had refuse to kill Batgirl and he annd Joker got away.

Meanwhile, Joker was disappointed of Donnie's performance, and attempted to turn him into permanent clown by dropping him to chemical where Joker was disfigured. His plan ended up failing when Batman and Batgirl stopped him and Donnie punches him with a popping fist gun.

• Donnie: (after Joker pranked the school principal) That was classic!
  Joker: See how much fun we can have? Join Team Joker. It would be a hoot.
• Batgirl: (about Donnie) Let him go, Joker.
  Joker: I'm trying to.
• Donnie: (reading the message) "Revenge is a best dish served." Chilli?
• Donnie: We set of the giant dominoes, the chief gets thrown into green jelly. Huh? Huh?
  Joker: Not glad of me. What else you got?
  Donnie: The police banquet, we cover the floors with mousetraps.
  Joker: Doesn't scream Joker.
  Donnie: Trap them with playing cards?
  Joker: Uh, been there, done that.
  Donnie: Crossword puzzle maze?
  Joker: Nah, too Riddler.
  (Punch spit out the gum and it went to Donnie's shoe.)
  Donnie: Great, gum on my shoe. Gum? Shoe? Oh, oh, we get to hit the police with a giant gumball.
  Joker: That would gum up the gumshoes for days.
