The Amazing Race 11 (titled The Amazing Race: All-Stars) will be the eleventh installment of the popular four time Emmy Award winner reality television show, The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 11 will feature teams of two, with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around the world.
The Amazing Race hired challenge producer Alan Bishop to design new tasks and challenges for this season. Bishop was responsible for challenges in recent installments of Survivor (Vanuatu, Guatemala, Panama). [1]
An advertisement following the finale of Season 10 on December 10, 2006[2] confirms an earlier story from Variety (based on information from a CBS spokesperson on November 21, 2006) that this edition will feature teams from previous seasons in an all-star format and will premiere in February of 2007. However, the official team list has not yet been released.
Prior to news of the 11th race being an All-Star race, applications were due on June 2, 2006. Final casting interviews were scheduled for August 2006, yet no confirmation had been made as of mid September 2006 as to whether the final casting interviews took place. On September 28, 2006 CBS gave the go-ahead to an 11th season of the series.[3] As the 11th race is now known to feature previous contestants, it is reasonable to expect that applications from new teams will be applied to the 12th race, as yet unscheduled by CBS.
Production began in Miami. Teams returning are still unknown even though various unofficial reports lists specific teams that have and have not been tapped for the race. [4][5] A recent spoiler has confirmed at least one team that has previously raced to be on this Race.
[edit] Future locations
Sightings of teams (and their camera crews) first began at Miami International Airport, boarding a flight to Quito, Ecuador. [6] Camera crews and teams (including one easily identifiable team from Season 1) were spotted on November 28 in Ushuaia, Argentina. [7] With Ushuaia as a standard jumping-off point for cruises to Antarctica, there also exists the possibility that this Race will visit every single continent. There have been sightings of teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, outisde Batu Caves, where 4 teams were spotted and the person who spotted the teams heard of a 5th team who was delayed on a flight.[8]
