THE Alternative is an internet Pokemon community created by RBY Legend, GGFan on July 16th, 2005. It is an online Pokemon community and one of the most unique to date. It is heavily credited for influencing competitive RBY,a generation that was considered to be dead for the most part. Smogon, currently the most hated Pokemon community for it's attempts at monopolizing everything have tried multiple times at shutting down THE Alternative, they only gave it more publicity however.

On October 27th, 2006, The Alternative was renamed to THE Alternative to emphasize the fact that THE Alternative is the number one alternative Pokemon community.
