The Almighty (神様 Kami-sama), also known as Kami-sama and God, is a character in the anime/manga series Oh My Goddess!

The lord of Heaven and Earth. The Almighty is known by many names such as the Creator, the Lord and God. As Lord of Heaven, all Goddesses ultimately answer to him and he is responsible for maintaining reality as we know it. Throughout the manga and anime he is an unseen character as viewers never see his face, which is usually shrouded in shadow, turned away, or simply too close-up to be able to see his whole face.

The Almighty has provided the vaccine for clearing out the virus like Ultimate Destruction Program/Lord of Terror along with the manual for how to use it. After the Lord of Terror incident, he has provided useful information regarding how the Goddesses can retrieve power from moon stones.

From the Mythology point of view, he is a figure similar to Odin in Norse Mythology.

[edit] Trivia

  • In the manga, he ordered the death of Urd and, later, Keiichi Morisato when the Lord of Terror possessed them. However, Belldandy acted as a shield for Keiichi, saving his life. Conversely, in the TV series, he held back the order as a last resort.
  • In the earlier chapters of the manga, the Almighty was portrayed as more directly interacting with the main protagonists, even speaking directly to Keiichi. However, in later chapters the Almighty seems to intervene less, something that seems to have crossed over to the TV series where he talks only to the goddesses and events where he intervened directly in the manga now have other characters interveneing on his behalf.
  • It was stated by Keiichi Morisato in Chapter 47 that it seems like the 3 Goddesses have angered him more than once.
  • In the character pages of Dark Horse versions of the manga, he described simply as almighty.
  • It is strongly hinted that he may in fact be the father of the three Goddesses. (This might also explain his leniency with them.)
