[edit] The Adventurers

The Adventurers are a group of Fantasy role-playing game characters created by Thomas Miller. Based upon a series of gaming sessions that Miller ran back in 1991, these stories were originally published on the Usenet on a weekly basis. His writings have spanned over 15 years and amount to over 14.7 Mb of plain text.

The original stories were based upon gaming sessions that Miller ran using the Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition system, set in the World of Greyhawk. As a result, many of the settings and non-player characters that the Adventurers encountered will be familiar to D&D veterans because they were from commercial modules that were available for the Greyhawk world at the time. These original gaming sessions are chronicled in episodes 1 through 125 as Epic 1. Epic 2's initial chapters were based upon a reunion gaming session but after that, Miller began to write stories that were extrapolated from his own ideas and input from some of the original players, with whom Miller remained friends.

[edit] Epic 1

Epic 1 was started in 1991 with the origin story of the Adventurers group. Set in the town of Fax, the group individually responded to a notice for courier work and accepted the charge to work together in order to fulfill the job requirements of Cassius, who needed an important package escorted to the Celene region. The group was initially riven by distrust, but they began to work well together, despite stark differences in style and personality.
