The 300 Spartans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 300 Spartans was a 1962 war film, filmed in the village of Perachora in Greece, depicting the Battle of Thermopylae. It was noted for its Cold War propaganda overtones, and starred Richard Egan as the Spartan king Leonidas, Ralph Richardson as Themistocles of Athens and David Farrar as Persian king Xerxes.
The film inspired author Frank Miller to write the graphic novel 300, which would then be adapted into the eponymous film, slated for release in March 2007.
