I heard the line as "Western branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 134.117.137.60 (talk • contribs) 09:59, 29 January 2006 (UTC).
- On other pages it's spelled "Presbo-..." AnonMoos 20:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

- The unsigned contributor is correct; it is the Western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism. I tried to edit the title of this article but I couldn't figure out how. All links to this article would also have to be changed (for example, on the page List of neologisms on The Simpsons). Maybe the author of this article (or anyone else who knows how to do it) could make the necessary changes. Gorilla 322 00:59, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

The description of the formation of the church needs to be revised. Ned was referring a split between "us" and the Romans (ie. Roman Catholics), and did not mention Presbyterians, Lutherans, Presbylutherans, or anyone else. "Us" might refer to any of these groups, or to Protestants in general. Furthermore, the name "Western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism" only comes up later in the episode, so there is nothing that would indicate which group Ned is referring to. - Thanks for letting me know guys! When you move a page, all the old links redirect to the new link. I am just about to move it. Thanks a bunch! Tvaughn05e (Talk)(Contribs) 23:04, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Re: formation, yes indeed, I picked up on that too. I would guess however that he does refer to their church, and the fission would presumably the most recent, maybe when 'Western branch ...' seperated from 'Eastern branch ...', or 'reform Presbylutheranism' seperated from 'Presbylutheranism'. I'll edit the page if I can catch the episode again, and can confirm the context. --Neo 20:24, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

- I saw the episode again recently, but it is still slightly ambiguous what Ned meant. But I'm pretty sure that he meant the original split between Catholics and Protestants, since he explicitly mentions a split from the "Romans". I have reworded the formation section to reflect the fact that the Western branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism may have arisen later and not been directly involved in the split. I also put the information about the conflicts with Catholics, Episcopals, etc. in a separate section (Outlook on other religions), because many other examples can potentially be added. I changed it back to "monogamous gays and stem cells" because that was the exact quote from the episode. Gorilla 322 06:24, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
