[edit] Requested move
Smithsonian Institution (novel) → The Smithsonian Institution – The target page title is the proper name of the novel; Smithsonian Institution is known only in sentence context as "The Smithsonian Institution". A dab cross-reference would be put on each of these two articles as appropriate. — User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 03:57, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Article moved to The Smithsonian Institution (novel); see below. E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 14:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Add *Support or *Oppose followed by an optional one-sentence explanation, then sign your opinion with User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 04:00, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion
- Add any additional comments
It is not entirely clear what is proposed here. I support Smithsonian Institution for the actual institution; The Smithsonian Institution for the novel. Septentrionalis 00:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Wikipedia naming conventions state, "If the definite or indefinite article article would be capitalized in running text, then include it at the beginning of the page name. Otherwise, do not include it at the beginning of the page name." If this case is otherwise, my vote would remain oppose due to potential confusion with Smithsonian Institution. - Support That is: The Smithsonian Institution – or, better yet, The Smithsonian Institution (novel) – for the novel; Smithsonian Institution for the venerable institution. Appropriately, I've moved The Smithsonian Institution to Smithsonian Institution (disambiguation). E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 09:06, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Addendum: On reflxion, I've taken the liberty of moving the novel/article to The Smithsonian Institution (novel); that should eliminate any ambiguity with the definite article. Perhaps, now, Smithsonian Institution (disambiguation) should redirect to Smithsonian (disambiguation)? :) E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 10:16, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
