[edit] Interview with Green Day in Q magazine
There was an interview with Green Day in Q during summer 2005 in which the interviewer talked with Billie Joe about The Network. He admitted that the members of Green Day are in fact The Network but denied that Money Money 2020 was actually the stolen/lost record Cigarettes and Valentines. So yes, I would say the cat's out of the bag. -St. Jimmy
[edit] Identity of Band Members
It is confirmed that at least Billie Joe Armstrong, and almost definitely Mike Dirnt and Tre' Cool, are members of The Network. The entire thing was some kind of publicity thing and Green Day knows they can't release a New Wave album as Green Day. It wouldn't be well received. See below and also see the Pinhead Gunpowder site.
[edit] VH1 Top 20 Countdown
I was watching the Top 20 countdown last month and the host kinda pretty much said that Green Day was the Network (he said Green Day has a side project know as The Network with two members of Devo) and then he went on how they would be opening some shows for Green Day, saying Green Day would come out as The Network and then go backstage to change. So I'm guessing cats out of the bag. --Saint-Paddy 00:30, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Devo
"The band consists of what is rumoured to be members of the band Green Day and two other musicians from the 80's band Devo"
I don't think there's any point in including the reference to Devo here, as they aren't mentioned again in the article, and other proposed identities of the remaining two members are covered later in the article, without providing any more basis for the Devo statement. The only "clue" perhaps would be that The Network's influences are supposedly Devo and Kraftwerk, and Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo has said a few times that he is fond of Green Day, but even that's not really any sort of way to confirm that he is involved in The Network.
[edit] Vegetarianism
Though it is a popular rumor, neither Billie Joe nor Mike Dirnt are vegetarians, as confirmed in a Q&A session on Green Day's Idiot Club (requires payment and registration). --Guess Who 18:54, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
