Talk:The Man Who Grew Young

The "controversy" section is under discussion at an Daniel Quinn message board[1] Personally, this "controversy" sounds far too weak to warrant such prominence ... ah, and I see it was added by the same fellow who started the thread there. This seems more like axe-grinding than developing a good entry on a book, spending more time on the flimsy evidence of "plagarism" than you do on the book itself. Just trivia to consider: According to the graphic novel, the universe will expand to a certain point then begin contracting and events in the expanding universe will be events in reverse in the contracting universe (as explained by the novel's character Alta; pages 46-49). However we must assume that physical laws of the universe will always be the same, yes? Therefore the novel is correct in portraying Adam Taylor FALLING into water and sunshine melting ice (pg 77-78). Yet if Adam Taylor is deliberately removed from ice in the contracting universe (pg 78-79) then are the authors supposing he was deliberately placed there in "our" frame of refernce, while the universe was expanding in antiquity? Also, if humans plant carrots into the ground instead of eating them (pg 63) does that mean they chew them into form from their mouths when the universe is contracting? If so, then somewhere at the molecular level in the stomach are the authors violating a law of chemistry or thermodynamics to human understanding? --Ashtflash 23:21, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
