Talk:The Kill Everyone Project

I removed the following text because they don't do that anymore (if they ever did in the first place):
Other countermeasures include security checks (also called a Reverse Turing test in the game), which are pop-up captchas designed to catch inattentive or absent participants who use scripts or other automated means to cheat. Security checks are initiated manually by an administrator monitoring suspicious activity, or automatically by the game itself on a pseudo-random basis. The participant is then required to input a random string of 8 numbers and letters within two minutes to continue, and failure to do so will cause the participant's account to be disabled.

I just verified with the site that this change is on false and misinformed grounds. The security checks as described still (and do) occur. --Reactor 10:56, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NaN
I haven't played in a long time, but I was under the assumption that going over that threshhold of clicks caused you to get NaNned. If that's not the case, what are the actual criteria for it?
[edit] Finished?
My firewall doesn't allow me to play anymore, but hasn't the project been finished and restarted at least once? If so, does anbody know the actual dates involved? Eldamorie 01:23, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
The project has been running continuously since May 8, 2001, without any restarting, and is still in operation. From my knowledge, the project probably will not be restarted after it is completed, but it may resurrect in an alternate form in the future. Reactor 23:13, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
- Reactor, Shouldn't this be considered a spoiler? --Alcarilinque 23:28, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
- No. Speaking of the future of TKEP is entirely speculation, surmised guesses, and deduction of past behaviour. As such, I don't think I cited the above as explicit fact. Reactor 08:53, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
