Sorry about Al Jazeera thing - I could find no reference to his actual name, and must have mis-heard the film. Thanks for correcting me.

Having seen this film on the weekend, I'm pretty sure the Jewel says "That is not the Sufi way." Hence, he is a Sufi, which can be included or excluded from traditional Islam depending on your point of view. - Brenden Dannaher, 18 October, 2006
