I think we need a disambiguation page. This article is about the British thriller The Beast Must Die which was released in 1974. There is also a 1939 novel of the same title by Nicholas Blake (and there was a link within that article for the novel which unfortunately linked to this article -- I've changed the link target to The Beast Must Die (novel)), and the 1969 film Que la bête meure (known in the English speaking world as The Beast Must Die or This Man Must Die) directed by Claude Chabrol which is based on the Blake novel. Neither the Blake novel nor the Chabrol film have anything to do with the 1974 thriller.

Unfortunately, I'm just new enough that I don't understand how to go about this. Help? Can someone take care of this? Canonblack 18:30, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

It doesn't necessarily need a disambiguation page, especially if the Chabrol film is more likely to appear under the French title, if at all. The novel can just be disambiguated as The Beast Must Die (novel). You could create this page now as a stub with Category:Book stubs, Category:1939 books, Category:British novels, or whatever. Yes, but the novel came first, so shouldn't it get the unadorned version of the title? I don't know if there's a rule for this, but it seems to me that the first possessor of a title should be assigned that title without parenthetical qualification, and all later possessors of the same title should carry a parenthetical qualification. Ex.: Blake's novel's article would be "The Beast Must Die," the Chabrol film might be "The Beast Must Die (1969 film)" (if only as a redirect to the French title), and the Hammer film might be "The Beast Must Die (1974 film)". I had just moved the 1974 film to The Beast Must Die (film) when I discovered this discussion. I hope there are no objections to the (rather simple) solution I have suggested. I'll turn The Beast Must Die into a disambiguation page. <KF> 09:37, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
