Yahoo has launched The 9 - a daily video compilation show or vlog featuring the nine top "Web finds" of the day.
The 9 debuted both on Yahoo's homepage and Yahoo TV on July 10, 2006. The show, hosted by Maria Sansone, borrows from the many pop culture list shows which have spread like wildfire across the cable TV landscape, such as VH1's Best Week Ever and E!'s The Soup.

The countdown is also listed along the side of The 9's video player, which features nine numbered buttons, each labeled with a particular featured item and Web site. The host, Maria Sansone, introduces each of the nine stories and the "viewser" can then opt to click on and go to any story that interests them. Viewsers are encouraged to vote on their favorite stories or submit their own. The options and interactions that the viewsers may demonstrate are characteristic of what the future of news, information, and entertainment dissemination will look like.

- The #1 item is always animal-related, with the only exception thus far occurring on September 11, 2006. For example, it has featured a cat massaging a dog, pictures of sleeping kittens, and wild meercats.
- Comedian Dane Cook became the first ever co-host of The 9 on October 5, 2006.
