Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, (or SG:TA for short), is a first person shooter based on Season 7 of Stargate SG-1. The game uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine.

The game has been said to be based upon the events of the SG-1 seasons; the player will be able to select their character for a mission and fulfill the roles of that character as seen in the TV show.

[edit] Game's name

It has been confirmed that the Alliance part of the name refers to the Alliance between Anubis and the new enemy, Haaken. [1]

[edit] Gameplay

The game was a FPS with an option for a third person perspective, consisting various missions and levels, with objectives to be reached. Since the developers have not shown much of the gameplay, it's not very clear how exactly the game plays out, though, from the video from the "Stargate Atlantis: Rising" DVD, it appears to follow the storyline well.

In the single player mode there will not only be only one way to complete a mission, choosing a character depends on how you complete the mission.

[edit] Weapons

It has been announced that there will be 27 weapons, but only 21 weapons have been revealed.

  • FN P90

[edit] Multiplayer

There will be nine modes to play on multiplayer.

Mode Description
Deathmatch Every player in this mode can kill other players, and no teams are organized.
Team Deathmatch Similar to Deathmatch, but organizes the players into teams.
Last Man Standing Similar to Deathmatch, except that everyone only has one respawn opportunity, as opposed to the other gameplay modes.
Capture the Flag Both teams have a flag at their base. One team must take the flag from the enemy base and return with it to their own base. In order to score a point, one team's flag has to be at a base (the flags have to make contact). If one team's flag has been taken by the other team, the other team must retrieve it, and so on.
Stargate CTF Each map has two separate sections, each with a Stargate instead of a flag. Other than the cosmetic difference of a Stargate and a flag, it plays just like CTF.
Jaffa In this mode, the first person to score a kill becomes a Jaffa who has regenerative abilities, and a staff weapon.
Enslave The first player to die becomes a Goa’uld (gaining the Ribbon Device). Each player that they kill becomes a Goa’uld too. Human players get two points for killing a Goa’uld, and Goa’uld get five points for converting a human. The last human in the game gains ten points. The Goa’uld can differentiate between Goa’uld and Humans, while Humans cannot. Friendly Fire is enabled. As an option, the last human surviving will win if they avoid death for two minutes.
Foothold A Co-op mode in which a group of players take on hordes of enemies coming out of a Stargate.
System Lord Racial Abilities are in effect here. Each side has base, complete with a shield and defense turrets. One must take down their adversaries' shield and destroy it using the Mothership hovering over the map. (How this "mothership" is used is not clear.) Possibly similar to Titan game mode in Battlefield 2142.

[edit] Possible Cancellation

As of February 2006, the game's status is in limbo regarding its possible cancellation. On 12 April 2006 - Digital Voice and Media is pursuing a buyout of Perception. What this will mean for the game is uncertain. It is now rumored that Namco will develop and release the game at the end of 2006. According to 4players.de, MGM is preparing to release news in November regarding the game.

[edit] Attempts to Save the game

[edit] 'Save Stargate SG-1: The Alliance' Petition

Currently, the status of the game is in limbo pending a possible cancellation. Because of this, a fan by the name of Robert O'Reilly has started a petition to "save" the game. Although such online petitions have not generally been successful in recent history, many fans have signed it. Many fans have also taken it upon themselves to write letters to developers Perception and Licensor MGM asking them to please "un-cancel" the game.[2]

As of Feb 13 2006 21:54 p.m. GMT the petition had gathered over 13,440 signatures only 23 days after being started. By December 2006 the number of signatures is over 25,000.
