"Sacrifice" is the seventh episode of the first season of the American fantasy / horror drama Blade: The Series.

[edit] Plot

The episode opens with Steppin' Razor appearing before a policeman at a firing range. He grabs the cop's hand and twists it around under his chin, and then tells him that his past has caught up with him. Steppin' Razor shoots the cop.

Blade arrives at his warehouse and ends up calling Shen's girlfriend at the CDC about the sample taken from Vanessa's womb. The lady at the CDC tells Blade the sample is a keyhole virus, meant to target a specific race or species. She tells Blade she can't figure out what the virus targets yet.

Krista's mom worsens, and refuses to go to the hospital. They tell her she doesn't have much longer to go, and Krista's uncle suggests that she let her mother go. Krista tells him that she doesn't have to.

Blade and Shen hear about the shooting on the scanner and check it out. Shen pretends to be from the CSI unit and they examine the body, finding a knight chess piece in the cop's mouth. This leads them to an apartment where they find a dead Japanese man named Mr. Taka, whom Blade reveals that he also knew. Shen asks what it's all about, and Blade replies "Me."

Krista gets checked out in the Chthon medical lab, where she finds out that she's healing, but too slowly. She asks the doctor what would've happened if she had been sick before she was turned, and the doctor told her he's seen cripples walk the next day, MS cured overnight, and so on. Inspired, Krista bolts up to go see her dying mother when Marcus arrives with Chase. He tells her that she needs to feed more and offers to take her to the feeding room, but she says she wants a fresh kill and leaves. Marcus tells Chase that he has a project for her.

In flashback scenes, we see Blade's youth. Blade's father had a girlfriend that was a nurse, she used to bring blood to him so he could feed. The cop, Flannigan, used to help Blade's dad by bringing him back when he'd run away. Viola, the nurse, tells Blade's dad that she can't keep bringing him blood. In the meantime, Blade has Shen searching for Viola's current whereabouts. When Shen finds her, Blade and Shen rush to find her before Steppin' Razor does.

Back at Chthon, Charlotte's investigator Glynnis reports in. She tells Charlotte that Marcus has been laundering the money that the House has been sending him for Aurora. She doesn't believe Marcus will ever deliver Aurora, and tells Charlotte that Marcus closed all the labs except for one, where Damek has been delivering Armayans for testing that are being killed before they can be tested. Glynnis requests more time to investigate Krista, and Charlotte agrees. They end with her giving Charlotte an infant to "eat".

In more flashback scenes, Blade's dad has gotten desperate enough to call in a man named Abraham Whistler, who tests Blade and discovers that he's a daywalker. Whistler wants to take the boy and use him as a weapon against vampires. Upset at hearing this, Blade runs away. He goes to the Mr. Taka's store to find him being robbed at gunpoint. Blade attacks and kills the two robbers, drinking their blood. Blade's father arrives and is shot by a dying robber. Blade then turns the gun around and shoots the robber, the same way Flanigan was shot by Steppin' Razor. Upset, Blade runs away, presumably for good.

Blade and Shen catch up to Viola and find that Steppin' Razor has drowned her at the hospital. They manage to revive her, and she tells Blade that Steppin' Razor has come back to kill Blade's father, whom he assumed was dead. Viola reveals that he was not dead, but in fact tracking Blade. Blade decides to go to his boyhood home, now an abandoned building. Steppin' Razor is waiting for him, and they fight. The fight spills into a room when all of sudden Steppin' Razor is ashes. Blade's father (Richard Roundtree), standing behind Blade, stabbed Steppin' Razor by running Blade's sword through Blade's stomach. Blade's father wants to talk but Blade rebuffs him, telling him that he's not his father and that if he wants to live he should get as far away from Blade as possible.

At the end of the show, Krista breaks into Blade's warehouse and steals serum. She takes it to her mom's house, where she decides to turn her mother to save her from the Leukemia. She bites her mother's wrist and smothers her to death. When she turns around, Glynnis is there holding the bag of serum. She threatens to go to Marcus and reveal what Krista is doing. As they are about to fight, Agent Collins busts in, and both vampire women turn on him.
