Overloaded: The Singles Collection is a greatest hits compilation album from the Sugababes that released on 13 November 2006. Amelle Berrabah would have been unable to re-record over all of the vocals done by Mutya Buena for the fact that Buena did not want her vocals to be re-recorded on all of the releases and that it may create a controversy with the fans. However, Buena had no problems with Berrabah re-recording her vocals from the One Touch era, but the company decided to keep all the original vocals, including Siobhán Donaghy, the original member and Buena's vocals in the final production.

It had been initially confirmed by KOCH Distribution (the company involved in distributing the compilation) that the greatest hits compilation will be released in the United States, titled as Overloaded. It was to be released on 5 December 2006 and would have been the first album from the Sugababes in the United States. [1]It was rumoured to contain additional bonus songs. However, when asked about the album in the "Ask Billboard" section for Nov. 26, 2006, Billboard.com claims that KOCH is actually handeling the release for Canada not all of North America, and that the album will not be released in the US, just yet.[2]

The lead single for the greatest hits is "Easy" and was released 6 November 2006. The second single for the greatest hits is "Good To Be Gone" and is expected to be released January 2007. "Easy" made its premiere on The Scott Mills Show on BBC Radio 1 on 12 September 2006. The Greatest Hits title is a spin on the groups debut single "Overload."

[edit] Notes

Credit: Music Week Magazine:

  1. The tracklisting above will hit traditional retailers as the standard packaging.
  2. There will be several digital versions of the compilation to be released, each including different bonus songs, remixes and acoustic versions.
  3. A stand-alone Overloaded DVD will be released simultaneously and features a karaoke element.
  4. A tour is planned for 2007.

Misc:

  1. Siobhán Donaghy has said that she does not have problems if they re-recorded her vocals because she stated that those songs are for Sugababes, not her, regarding on her feud with former bandmate, Keisha Buchanan. She however still included on the release.
  2. UK-only singles "New Year", "Soul Sound", "Angels With Dirty Faces" (Double A-side with "Stronger") and "Follow Me Home" are not included on the collection due to low chart position entries. This however cause a little bit confusion for fans due the fact that "New Year" charted a little higher than "Run For Cover", and did not included on the release.
  3. This will not mark the end of the Sugababes career, as this compilation is only to close their journey with former founding member, Mutya Buena.
  4. The Sugababes are now recording new tracks for their next studio album, their first full album with Amelle Berrabah, and their 5th studio album that is expected to be released in summer 2007.
