Munch died in 1944. How can this work of art then be Public Domain? --Gunnernett 08:05, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
"The Scream" was made prior to 1923. Under United States law, it is now (2005) in the public domain. See [1]. -- Karada 16:32, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
it's in the public domain in US and Commons is placed in US, why can't it be moved to Commons?. There is a tag there just for it, it's {{PD-US}}. For example, this picture http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:NosferatuShadow.jpg is in the public domain in the US, and we don't know about other countries. [edit] Location (theft & recovery)

The Location is currently listed as "In the custody of the Oslo police, after being recovered." However, Image:The_Scream2.jpg, claims to be the version stolen in 2004 and recently recovered. That image lists the location as Munch Museum, Oslo, Norway. Could someone confirm the actual location of the painting depicted here (The_Scream.jpg)? -- Super Aardvark 20:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
